Certain electrodynamic problems can be formulated as Fredholm integral equations of the second kind. We quote from the abstract: ``The Galerkin method with new vector basis functions has been used by researchers in electrical engineering... the new vector basis functions are ideally suited for representing the surface electric current and surface magnetic current... A theoretical analysis of the convergence, error estimate, and numerical stability of this method is given for certain types of integral equations.''
