The egalitarian solution proposed by the author and \textit{D. Ray} [Econometrica 57, No. 3, 615--635 (1989; Zbl 0703.90105)] is axiomatized over the class of convex side-payment games. A solution (which associates to each side-payment game a set of attainable payoff allocations) for convex games is egalitarian, iff it satisfies the Davis--Maschler reduced game property and constrained egalitarianism, and this is the case iff it satisfies the Hart--Mas-Colell reduced game property and constrained egalitarianism. The combination of the two types of reduced game properties of a solution for convex games is inconsistent with the weak covariance property.
