In this paper boundary value problems of classical elastostatics are studied when the surface and body forces are not absolutely continuous fields. Th author assumes that both fields (surface forces and body forces) are countably additive and of bounded variation, i.e., they represent a vector measure on the surface of the body. The existence and uniqueness (up to rigid displacements) theorems are proved. Also the conditions are formulated, the vectors for body and surface forces have to satisfy in order that the energy integral is finite. This paper is an important contribution to the existence theory of classical elastostatics.
