The connections between Gelfand-Tsetlin and Weyl bases for irreducible representations of classical Lie algebras are investigated. The orthogonality of the basis \([(m)]_ j\) for \({\mathfrak gl}(n)\), \({\mathfrak so}(n)\) and \({\mathfrak sp}(2k)\) in the respective spaces \(L^ q_ p[m]\), \(H[m]_{n-1}\), \(M[m]_{2k}\) and other related results are proved.
