Products of simple groups and symmetric groups (Q757587)

Many papers have dealt with groups which are the product of two finite simple groups. This paper begins the investigation of groups which are the product of a simple group and a group which is almost simple by considering groups of the form AB where A is a simple group and B is a complete \((Z(B)=1\) and \(Aut(B)=Inn(B))\) group with a simple subgroup of index 2. Several examples are constructed and there are several theorems which give the structure of such groups when the B is some (specific) symmetric group. Most of the theorems are too long to state in this review.
