A set of analytical solutions of sample problems, namely a simple bar under uniaxial compression, a long bar `forged' under plane strain condition and two thick-walled cylinders under axisymmetric deformation condition, is derived in this paper for strain-rate sensitive materials under unsteady-state forming process. However, only the final solution formulations for these problems can be presented here, the detailed derivation of these formulations can be found in the author's Ph. D. Dissertation [Univ. College Swansea, UK (1986)]. This analytical solution set includes the explicit closed-form solution formulations for the first two trivial sample problems and the analytical solution formulations in the form of the appropriate initial value problem for the last 3-D axisymmetric problem. In the latter, the explicit closed-form solution formulations are also derived for the special case of linear strain-rate sensitivity.
