The authors give a solution algorithm for the incorrectly posed Cauchy problem for elliptic equations. It is based on a replacement of the initial conditions by nonlocal ones. By approximating the problem with nonlocal boundary conditions, a difference problem is obtained, that is solved by direct methods. The regularizing property of the algorithm is proved.
