The method of matched asymptotic expansions is used to investigate the interaction of a thin axisymmetric layer behind a slender body in an exterior irrotational flow. With the help of a three-layer scheme, it is shown that the interaction in the leading approximation is local. Higher approximations of the asymptotic sequence are also obtained.
