Y. Raynaud has proved that the quotients of \(\ell_ p\) \((1<p<\infty)\) and certain quotients of \(\ell_ 1\) are stable Banach spaces. The aim of this note is to give a simpler proof of this fact, and to obtain some consequences of the method developed. The crucial point is a lemma which states the asymptotic additivity of the norm of these quotient spaces, a property which is already known for \(\ell_ p\).
