A new model of semantic-syntax-directed translation is formulated. By attaching to each syntax rule of the input grammar a set of semantic rules and an output rule, the semantics can actively induce the translation in both aspects; determining the content of the output rule, and selecting the input-output rule pair. In addition, the proposed translation scheme is used as a mechanism for array-quadtree conversion.
