We compute corrections to the Fock asymptotics [see \textit{V. A. Fock,} Electromagnetic diffraction and propagation problems (Oxford 1965)] for the wave field near a circular cylinder and a sphere. A numerical comparison is made of the asymptotic expressions for the field with exact solutions which demonstrates the effectiveness of using the corrections in numerical computations of diffraction fields.
