Squeezing flow of elastic liquids (Q761115)

The authors have studied the lubrication problem of a squeeze film for a power-law fluid. Numerical solutions are derived. They observe that for slow squeezing, the results are the same as those of inelastic fluid theory but for fast squeezing, they observe that the disks come together much slower than it is predicted for an inelastic fluid. For constant force data, these predictions agree with the data of Leider's results. Lubrication engineers will find this paper most useful.
