    The author deals with heat transfer in laminar boundary layers with strong interaction between the boundary layer flow and the inviscid flow outside the boundary layer. In particular the two-dimensional, incompressible steady flow along a flat plate with a local deformation of the wall at a finite distance from the leading edge is investigated. In order to describe the asymptotic behaviour of the flow \textit{K. Stewartson's} theory of multistructured boundary layers [Adv. Appl. Mech. 14, 149-239 (1974)] (triple deck theory) is employed. The asymptotic structure of the thermal boundary layer is also given by this theory. Numerical results for shear stress and heat transfer are compared with those arising from the theory of interacting boundary layers. It is demonstrated that agreement is very good. Special considerations for small (e.g. liquid metals) and large e.g. oils) Prandtl numbers allow to cover the entire range of Prandtl numbers.
