This paper reports a numerical study of two-dimensional natural convection in a horizontal porous layer heated from below and saturated with cold water. Three separate series of numerical simulations document the effect of Rayleigh number, bottom surface temperature, and horizontal length of the porous layer on the overall heat transfer rate vertically through the layer.
