The present investigation establishes uniform precise a priori bounds on the \(L_{\infty}\)-norm of certain singular solutions of a system of two nonlinear Sturm-Liouville equations which model solitary water waves. Some statements are made about the uniqueness of the solutions which do not result from perturbation of linear theory but are in a certain sense global.
