Thermodynamics on cavitation (Q761915)

The Rayleigh-Plesset equation gives a description of the expansion or contraction of symmetric bubbles formed in liquid, with the matter interchange and energy transformation neglected. It is insufficient for explaining the formation or disappearance of a bubble in liquid phase and inception or desinent cavitation behaviors in high velocity flow. This paper is intended to discuss the cavitation conditions on the basis of thermodynamical and hydrodynamical principles.
