Subalgebras of Heyting and De Morgan Heyting algebras (Q763321)

It is well known that there exists a correspondence between subalgebras of a Boolean algebra and certain equivalence relations defined on the dual Boolean space. In this interesting paper the authors describe a similar correspondence for Heyting algebras, giving a characterization of those equivalence relations on Heyting spaces that give rise to Heyting subalgebras. When the Heyting algebra is finite, maximal subalgebras are characterized as those subalgebras corresponding to two-element equivalence classes (as also proved in [\textit{M. E. Adams}, Proc. Edinb. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 29, 359--365 (1986; Zbl 0578.06009)]). A similar characterization of subalgebras is also given for De Morgan Heyting algebras.
