The paper addresses the characterization of invariant hyperplanes for systems of linear ordinary differential equations. The notion of equivalence between such systems of different orders is introduced and a new formula for the Floquet form is proposed. Finally, given a periodic trajectory of a dynamical system it is suggested the introduction of suitable amplitude-phase coordinates reducing the system to a simpler form.
