The paper deals with a qualitative analysis of dynamic properties of plants described by nonlinear ordinary differential equations with a nonsmooth right-hand side. The study relies on formulas obtained in the paper and which extend to the nonsmooth case Liouville's formula for the rate of variation of the phase volume and the formula for the rate of variation of the phase space trace volume. Illustrative examples are given.
