The difference equation \(\Delta^ 2x(k-1)+p(k)x(k)=0,\) where p(k) is a real valued function defined on a set of consecutive integrals is considered. Several inequalities are proved for p(k) which are necessary for the existence of a solution of the above equation with certain boundary conditions.
