The paper studies the geometrical meaning of certain conditions on plane fields that were imposed by the reviewer for obtaining different classes of almost-product manifolds [Rend. Mat. Appl., VII. Ser. 3, 577--592 (1983; Zbl 0538.53045) (see the following review)]. Three of the conditions are of transversal nature in the sense of Haefliger structures. The umbilical condition in the case of foliations, leads to conformal foliations. Some examples are given.
