From the theoretical standpoint, time-dependent problems in radiative transfer have always presented the theoretical and numerical transport theorist with a creative and challenging area of research. In this presentation, we will enlarge the class of problems which can be solved to include the general surface boundary condition of both diffuse and specular reflection. The solution obtained here has relevance to the field of non-destructive testing where materials or material properties are identified by observation of the reflected radiation intensity resulting from a pulsed stimulation. In this application, surface conditions can have a profound influence on the identification and, therefore, will be the focus of this work.
