This paper reports the work on laminar vortex-sink flow of a compressible fluid between two circular disks. With the initially uniform entering flow condition along the periphery of the gap the compressible flow field including the boundary layer growth on the disks were computed from finite difference formulations. While very few results are reported for flows with tangential components (vortex flow), most of the results are for simple radial flows (sink flow). The locations of the sonic line, as influenced by the growth of the boundary layer are reported. This reviewer finds that i) the pressure distribution for a relatively small Reynolds number can essentially be produced by inviscid flow treatment, indicating the negligibly small influence of the boundary layer growth, and ii) for the case the where entrance Mach number is 0.34, the sonic line should occur at the radial location of \(R=0.546\) according to inviscid flow predictions. With the effect of boundary layer growth, the sonic line should occur at a slightly larger R value, while the computed results reported in the paper and also the experimental data do not agree with this finding even when they both agree with themselves.
