This paper deals with the following problem: does a graded module with graded Gabriel dimension have a Gabriel dimension when regarded without grading? The note provides an affirmative answer to this question in the commutative case, and the results are applied in order to obtain an evaluation for the Gabriel dimension of polynomials. Recently, the same authors succeeded to prove the non-commutative case of the above problem.
