Conditions are proposed for applicability of the harmonic-balance method for approximate construction of the periodic modes in control systems of the type \(L(p)x(t)=M(p)f(t,x(t))\), \(x(t)\in {\mathbb{R}}^ n\), where \(p=d/dt\), L(p) and M(p) are polynomial matrices and f(t,x) is periodic in t.
