The author proposes a metric theory of gravitation based on the use of the simple de Sitter group instead of the Poincaré group. This allows for a unified formulation of structureless and spinning test particles. The resulting theory is equivalent to a particular 10-dimensional Kaluza- Klein theory having the Lorentz group as a gauge group. Contents include an introduction (which states the author's viewpoint in detail); the group manifold and its geometry; and the shadow play of physics on space- time.
