In SGA 6 (Théorie des intersections et théorème de Riemann-Roch), Lect. Notes Math. 225 (1971; Zbl 0218.14001) a definition of Grothendieck's \(K_ 0\)-functor in terms of the derived category was given. The authors generalize this definition to the case of higher K- functors attached to an arbitrary small category. Details of proofs are omitted.
