The author corrects the statements of two corollaries given by \textit{J. A. Fridy} [ibid. 81, 81-91 (1979; Zbl 0384.40006)] and shows how the corrected versions relate to some of the literature on gap sequences. The case of unbounded gap sequences and some further results about gap sequences, some of which are known, are also discussed.
