A deadbeat model presented by \textit{F. Y. Shih} [IEE Proc., Part D 130, 119-127 (1983; Zbl 0511.93031)] for discrete-time linear systems is extended for two-dimensional (2-D) linear systems described by \textit{R. Roesser's} model. (IEEE Trans. Autom. Control AC-20, 1-10 (1975; Zbl 0304.68099)]. An algorithm is presented for finding gain matrices describing the control law of the system. The algorithm is illustrated by a simple numerical example.
