    For a quantum system described by a lattice of orthogonal projections in some von Neumann algebra, a simple axiomatic for a probability amplitude of a system of n filters is proposed. It is shown that, in case \(n=1\) or \(n=2\), the amplitude is determined uniquely, up to a phase factor, by the corresponding transition probability. A relevant optical experiment is described.
