The author modifies the methods of his paper [Ergodic Theory Dyn. Syst. 8, No.4, 637-650 (1988; Zbl 0663.53028)] to prove the nonexistence of Riemannian foliations on certain manifolds of negative curvature. Indeed, he shows the nonexistence of foliations which are close to being Riemannian, that is the nonexistence of certain quasi-Riemannian foliations on such manifolds.
