The author proves the following result. Theorem: If a continuum X admits an expansive homeomorphism, then there is a closed subset Z of X such that each component of Z is non-degenerate, the space of components of Z is a Cantor set, and the decomposition of Z into components is continuous. In particular, there are no expansive homeomorphisms on Suslinian continua.
