This paper treats some generalizations of Buffon's needle problem in which a ``needle'' (i.e. a short, stright line segment) or a small disc is dropped at random onto a ``cell'' consisting of m adjacent parallelograms. In each case a formula is obtained for the probability that the needle or disc intersects the boundary of one of the parallelograms. The results are extended to the case of a disc whose diameter is a random variable, and to ``cells'' in n-dimensional Euclidean space.
