There are studied fourth order elliptic equations of the form \[ \Delta^ 2u-q(x)g(\Delta u)+p(x)f(u)=0\text{ and } \Delta (q(x)g(u)\Delta u)+p(x)f(u)=0. \] Liouville-type and uniqueness results are obtained by means of subharmonic functionals and a Green inequality.
