The class of algebraic groups G is extended for which ``\(hypothesis\quad *\)'' (concerning the stable rationality of the field of invariants) is valid. The following result is stated: If \(hypothesis\quad *\) holds for groups \(PSL_ m\) and \(PSL_ n\), \((m,n)=1\), then the hypothesis holds also for groups \(PSL_{mn}\). Therefore \(hypothesis\quad *\) holds for the groups \(PSL_ 6\) and \(PSL_{12}\).
