Let X be a Banach space, \(\mu\) be a positive finite measure on the \(\sigma\)-algebra of Borel subsets of X and \(r_ 0>0\). Let \(Q(x^*,r^*)\) be the ball of radius \(\leq r_ 0\) of maximal \(\mu\)- measure. In smooth spaces such balls are studied in connection with surface measures generated by \(\mu\).
