In the present paper the general problem when the primary field is not axisymmetric is considered. An orthogonal expansion method is used to transform the governing integro-differential equation for the eddy- currents into an infinite set of linear equations which are solved numerically. Detailed results for the eddy current distributions and the secondary magnetic field can then be obtained with little computer effort.
