The paper is a companion paper of the authors' previous one [see the foregoing entry (Zbl 0731.73082)]. By some simple modification of the constitutive equations, the two-dimensional shell theory was applied to the finite element analysis. A simple and efficient \(C^ 0\) quadrilateral shell element is developed. Numerical examples refer to deep pinched cylindrical shells, moderately thick or thin, and show that the developed shell element gives good results for both cases.
