\textit{Li Chengzhi} [Chin. Ann. Math., Ser. B 7, 174-190 (1986; Zbl 0603.34021)] has proved that there is no limit cycle surrounding a weak focus of order three in a quadratic system. In the paper under review sufficient conditions are given for the nonexistence of a limit cycle surrounding a weak focus of order two.
