An \(n\)-dimensional analogue of the arithmetic-geometric scheme is given in the first part of the paper. Unfortunately there is no reference to related papers like that of \textit{J. Wimp} [Rend. Semin. Mat., Torino, Fasc. Spec., 319--334 (1985; Zbl 0607.65025)]. The second part deals with means of continuous positive functions.
