The paper under review belongs to an area of mathematical analysis. As follows from the contents, it represents further developing of the idea initially published by the author in [\textit{G. A. Anastassiou}, Proyecciones 14, No.~2, 83--88 (1995; Zbl 1082.41500)]. There are two parts. The first is devoted to the study of global smoothness preservation properties of smooth Picard singular operators over the real line and the second one concerns convergence results. The paper studies uniform approximation to the unit operator with rates by using the modulus of continuity.
