The author studies compactness conditions for the so-called radial operators acting on the harmonic Bergman space over the unit disk. The main result states that, under some oscillation condition, the compactness of a bounded radial operator is equivalent to the boundary vanishing of its Berezin transform. As a corollary, the author characterizes compactness properties of Toeplitz operators with radial symbols.
