The author determines the spectra of the adjacency and Laplacian matrices of trees whose center consists of two vertices such that the vertices at equal distance from the center have equal degrees. In the second part, the author applies these results to improve the upper bounds of the reviewer on the spectral radius of the adjacency and Laplacian matrices from [Linear Algebra Appl. 360, 35--42 (2003; Zbl 1028.05062)].
