Derived lengths of symmetric Poisson algebras (Q824459)

Poisson algebras have many applications in algebra, differential geometry and mathematical physics. In this paper, the author reviews the main results about the Lie structure of the symmetric Poisson algebra and the truncated symmetric Poisson algebra. The known results about solvable symmetric Poisson algebras and their derived lengths are explained. The author also recalls the theorems about the Lie structure of ordinary and restricted enveloping algebras. Lie nilpotence and solvability of Poisson algebras are finally discussed.
