On the modeling of entropy producing processes (Q836785)

The paper is devoted to the fundamental study of the response of bodies undergoing entropy producing processes. Kinematic and basic equations are discussed with including the modeling of entropy producing processes. The requirement of the maximal rate of entropy production (which is not a principle of thermodynamics) is confronted with the Onsager's principle of the minimal rate of entropy production. Finally, an example for the viscoelastic fluid is given to illustrate the efficacy of the presented methodology.
