The author investigates the behavior of a smooth vector field after being perturbed by a smooth finite-time perturbation, i.e., by a vector function depending not only on the space variables but also on time, with compact support on the time axis. It is proved that the perturbed system is asymptotically equivalent to the original one. After giving two simple linear examples, the results are applied to an essentially four-dimensional quadratic model of tumor ecology where the finite-time perturbation consists in drug treatments.
