The authors study the capacity of a system of closely spaced bodies of arbitrary shape. Explicit solutions of this problem have only been obtained for a small number of bodies of special shape. The paper discusses the application of asymptotic methods to calculate the capacity in the case of many bodies via energy decomposition and network approximation.
