This paper presents calculations of an electrostatic field outside as well as inside a circular capacitor with a round hole in the upper plate. An analytical solution to the two-dimensional problem is found which adequately describes the depth of the potential well. The tree-dimensional problem is numerically solved and the horizontal position of the well is shown.
