The authors discuss four statistical-mechanical models with many-body interactions: the statistical-mechanical model of a homogeneous classical liquid with assumed central pair force, the statistical-model of a two-dimensional Coulomb one-component plasma for a specific coupling strength, the quantal canonical density matrix and Slater sum for non-interacting uniform electron liquid made inhomogeneous by switching on a one-body potential and the 3D Ising model. Two of these models are amenable to exact treatment while interesting partial results are derived for the other ones. The paper concludes with a conjecture on the exact solution of the 3D Ising model.
