The author proves the case of three masses, of an inequality of discrete type, which is conjectered by A. Bahri and Y. Xu. This inequality arises in a natural way when one tries to establish a Morse lemma at infinity for the Yamabe changing-sign problem on \(S^3\). After providing a proof for \(p=3\), the author presents a heuristic argument which shows why such an inequality should hold for any \(p\) points in \(\mathbb R^3\).
